Yankee District Meeting– October 27, 2001

§There are now 61 CRS

§The next CR school will be in 2003, probably in the spring at Elizabeth Park

Judging Update- Art Emmons

§The 2001 Official List of Approved Exhibitor Names for Judges and Exhibitors is the official list of exhibition names and it supercedes any other publications in use.

Membership- Nancy Edgar

§Good news! People are joining faster than they are dropping out! 121 new member since April, 103 dropped out.

2002- The Year of the Rose- Art Emmons (reporting for John Mattia)

§Art warned that within the next 2 months your society should make plans for activities because the Garden Clubs of America is promoting this as well as President Bush and cable TV.

§Suggestions– Add a category in your rose show, purchase a YOTR flag seminar.

§ Art offered to give more ideas if people e-mail him.

2002 District Convention- Mike Chute

§ Dates are 3/22-24 at the Providence Marriott

§ Speakers will be Jeri Ameroz from Weeks, Claire Laberge from Montreal Botanic Garden on her new shrub roses.

§ There will be a raffle, rose auction, Sat. afternoon lunch ($18 or $20) and a Saturday night dinner.

§ Registration fee $25, Dinner $30

§ Every society should advertise in their newsletter.

§ Please have each society contribute a nice raffle item, no dollar min or max, just something you’d like for yourself!

2003 District Convention-Mike Lowe

§ Dates are 3/14-16 at the Sheraton Tara in Nashua, NH hosted by NHRS with help from other societies.

§ Rooms will be $89.

§ Meal $30 or $35 if buffet.

§ Min 75 people on banquet and breakfast.

§ $500 classroom

§ $100 hospitality

§ If more than 50 rooms are booked, we get a free from for the speaker.

§ Roles:

§ Co-chairs- Tessi and Mike

§ Marion- registration

§ Rose bushes for auction- Art & Donna

§ Hotel arrangements- Mike & Joel

§ Raffle prizes & Raffle- Joel & Susan

2002 District Rose Show

§ Date- 9/7 hosted by the Lower Cape Rose Society

§ Seminars will be offered during judging.

§ Revenue maker- lunch- $5

§ Speakers are booked

§ Yankee District meeting will be Sunday 9/8 at the Harwich Community Center.
