The Yankee District again has won ARS awards for both a local society website and the District website in 2005.

  David Candler's Connecticut Rose Society website won the 2005  King of local websites
  and the Yankee District website managed by Patsy Cunningham  won 2005 King of district sites.

 

The 2006 Yankee District Convention was held March 17-19 at the Seacrest in Falmouth on the Cape. A Consulting rosarian school was held on March 17 as well.  Thank you to Audrey Osborn, show chair, and the Lower Cape Rose Society.
 
Congratulations to the newest Master Rosarians!  David Cannistraro, George Doorakian and Art Emmons have been awarded this designation by the ARS in 2006.

It was announced that John Mattia will be the 2004 Editor for the American Rose Annual, a prestigious and difficult job.  Congratulations John!

Additionally, Mike Chute will will have a monthly "Beginner's Column" in the American Rose Magazine.

2004 District convention was hosted by Connecticut Rose Society
 March 19-21, 2004 at the Hilton Gardens Hotel in historic Windsor, Connecticut.
Speakers  included Marilyn Wellan, Bob Martin, Don Myers and John Mattia.

RIRS has 3 ARS 2003 National Award Winners 
Congratulations to Angie Chute for her Honorable mention
 as editor of the RI Rose Review newsletter!
This makes it one of the top twelve in the country.
In addition, Allyson Huskisson won an Award of merit for her article
 on "Perennials & Annuals in the Rose Garden" and 
Ed Cunningham won Awards of Merit for his articles
"Why Do We Breed Roses" and "Breeders of Note : James Plaisted Wilde"

The Yankee District held a Judging School on Sept. 6, 2005  in Harwich, Massachusetts on the Cape.

The Yankee District now has a page in the HelpMeFind.com database, at http://helpmefind.com/rose/og.php?n=338.  Local societies may wish to take advantage of HelpMeFind.com's new option of adding a free webpage for your society, public garden or even private garden there.  Photos and events can be edited directly by the society.  For a garden, a list of your cultivars is connected directly to their database.
